FOUNDER: COACH TARA MADIGAN

Owner and founder Coach Tara Madigan returned to coaching at Northern Highlands after a two year hiatus. She just concluded her 20th year in 2024. Over the years, Coach Madigan has received numerous accolades, including being named Coach of the Year by the BCWCA, New Jersey Coach of the Year by the NJGSCA, and Regional Coach of the Year by the NSCAA. She was also selected to coach in the first girls' high school All-American game in 2013. She was invited back and remained part of the All-American coaching staff up to and including 2018.  

Coaching Accomplishments:

  • 2023 BCWCA Coach of the Year

  • 2023 NJGSCA North I Coach of the Year

  • 2016-present  BCWCA Girls Soccer Tournament Director

  • 2016 NJGSCA North I Coach of the Year 

  • 2015 Coach of the year (BCWCA, NJGSCA)

  • 2015 Regional Coach of the year (NSCAA)

  • 2012 NHFS Northeast Regional Coach of the Year

  • 2011 Coach of the year (BCWCA, NJGSCA, NSCAA)

  • Inducted into the NJGSCA Hall of Fame
     

Team Accomplishments under Coach Tara Madigan (2003-2024):

  • 12 League titles

  • 9 Bergen County championships

  • 12 North I, Group III State Sectional titles

  • 7 NJ State titles including 4 consecutive titles (2011-2014)

  • United Soccer Coaches Regional and National rankings

  • The team broke the NJ state record for consecutive wins (65 games) and broke the record for an unbeaten streak (88 games)

COACH CHRISSY MADIGAN

Coach Chrissy Madigan served as an assistant on the Northern Highlands coaching staff from 2011-2018, then again from 2023-2024. During her time as a Varsity assistant, Northern Highlands won 6 league titles, 5 Bergen County titles, 4 NJ Group III State titles, and 8 Group III North 1 State Sectional titles. In addition to serving as a private trainer and camp staff member for several years, Coach Madigan is a teacher of Positive Psychology at Northern Highlands and infuses elements of positive psychology into her coaching philosophy to enhance the mental performance of athletes. She is also a Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, Women's Fitness Specialist, USATF Level 1 certified coach, and holds a US Soccer E License. Coach Madigan is an avid runner and has completed several marathons and half marathons.
